Get Out and Play!

Now that spring is in full swing, most of us are spending more time outdoors. If you need some inspiration on where to take children to play off some of their energy, here are three great North Shore parks that offer up adventurous possibilities for all ages.

John Lawson Park in West Vancouver encompasses a salt water beach, water park (due to open later this month), picnic tables, grassy area for ball activities, swings, play structures and sand play. You will also find washrooms and shady areas if needed.

Heywood Park across from Capilano Mall on Marine Drive in North Vancouver is a little more hidden but well worth exploring. It offers a sports field, forested natural areas including a ravine trail and stream (great for natural water play), zip line, and playground amenities for all ages. Also has washroom facilities.

Carisbrooke Park in the Upper Lonsdale area at the corner of Lonsdale and Osborne, has a mix of playground structures and nature to explore. Monkey bars, a merry-go-round, huge climbing structure, and swings offer children numerous play options. The large grassy sloped area under a canopy of trees is perfect for playing tag, hide-and-seek, or rolling down. The park even includes a delightful rose garden giving all park goers an opportunity to slow down and smell the roses. The only draw back is the lack of washrooms.
